What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that the sites visited send to the terminal (PC, tablet, smartphone, notebook), which are stored on the device and then re-transmitted to the same sites on the next visit.
There are a variety of cookies that contain different information (e.g. authentication of IT information, session monitoring, storage of preferences in order to send advertising messages, etc.). Each cookie, in turn, contains different data (e.g. the name of the server it originates from, a numerical identifier, etc.).
Cookies can be:
- “first-party” cookies, i.e. cookies sent by the Controller’s website, which you are visiting;
- “third-party” cookies, i.e. cookies sent by a site other than the one you are visiting, which installs its own cookies through the site of the Data Controller.
