What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that the sites visited send to the terminal (PC, tablet, smartphone, notebook), which are stored on the device and then re-transmitted to the same sites on the next visit.

There are a variety of cookies that contain different information (e.g. authentication of IT information, session monitoring, storage of preferences in order to send advertising messages, etc.). Each cookie, in turn, contains different data (e.g. the name of the server it originates from, a numerical identifier, etc.).

Cookies can be:

  • “first-party” cookies, i.e. cookies sent by the Controller’s website, which you are visiting;
  • “third-party” cookies, i.e. cookies sent by a site other than the one you are visiting, which installs its own cookies through the site of the Data Controller.

Our cookies

The website you have accessed uses technical cookies.

These cookies enable user friendly access to the site and make it easier to find information, simplifying the connection and transmission of data between the user and the site. They are used as a browsing tool or to provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for other purposes.

This category includes the cookies listed below, which each pursue the purposes indicated:

  • browsing cookies (session), which ensure normal browsing and use of the website (for example, they allow you to make a purchase or enable you to register to access restricted areas);
  • functionality cookies (session and persistent), which allow the user to select a series of navigation criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) and help improve the service provided to the user.

Below are the cookies that are downloaded when interacting with the sites to which the related information refers.

Third-party cookies

We only allow third parties to use cookies on our websites in order to save information, anonymously, to help draft reports on site navigation.

Legal basis

The legal basis for the processing of data acquired through cookies is:

  • for navigation and functionality cookies, the legal basis lies in the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (art. 6., letter b) of the GDPR) as they are required to allow access to the site and the service requested by the user. The use of these cookies does not require your consent.

Provision of data and consequences

The provision of data collected through the cookies described above is not mandatory; however, it is necessary to access the site and the services it provides. In the event of partial or total failure to provide your data, the site may not be accessible or problems may arise when using it.

Duration period

Based on the time they remain active:

  • session cookies store the necessary information during the browsing session and are deleted immediately after the session expires, or when the browser is closed;
  • persistent cookies are stored on the hard disk of the device that the user is using to browse and the websites read them every time the user logs on to the site. A persistent cookie has a set expiry date depending on its characteristics, after which it will stop working.

Cookie management

The user can decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser settings.

The total or partial disabling of technical cookies may compromise the use of the site functions available to registered users.

On the contrary, access to public content is also possible even if these cookies are completely disabled. Disabling “third-party” cookies, if installed, does not affect the browsing experience in any way. The setting can be defined specifically for the various websites and web applications.
